1) BASILICA OF BOM JESUS
Being a UNESCO heritage site, this church is world renowned to still host the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. The interesting thing about the saint’s mortal remains is that it is extremely well preserved. Even today, thousands of visitors throng the church to witness this miracle.
A Jesuit church amongst churches in Goa, this structure is considered to be amongst the finest representations of Baroque architecture. The church is located in Old Goa. The Basilica of Bom Jesus is more than 408 years old and is open to the public every day. This is one of the oldest churches in Goa and in India.
2) MAHADEVA TEMPLE
Noted as the oldest temple in Goa, Tambdi Surla is a Shaivite temple of Lord Shiva built in the 12th century. This temple is a treat to eyes because of its unique style of construction. It is the only monument of Kadamba-Yadava architecture. Kadamba dynasty was ruling during the time when this temple was constructed.
Apart from nature and the temple, you would only find some monkeys hopping from here and there. The place is unbelievably quiet. You can only hear the sound of the stream and the chirping of birds when you are in the temple premises.
3) SAFA SHAHOURI MASJID
Also known as the Shahouri masjid, the Safa masjid presents an elegant spectacle with typical Islamic arches decorating the walls. The mosque was located at the center of a sprawling complex of gardens and fountains remnants of which can be witnessed today. The rectangular prayer hall of the mosque rests above a high base and is capped with a pointed terracotta tile roof.
4) BETIM GURUDWARA
Betim Gurudwara at Panjim is located near the Mandovi Bridge and is at Bardez Taluka of North Goa. The Belim Village has Sikh Gurdwara and as usual it is guided by the Gurdwara Singh Sabha.
The most famous pilgrimage of the Sikh religion in Gurdwara and since there are only two Gurdwara in the whole state both are the most revered one and all the people from Sikh community love both the Gurdwara and is most visited Gurdwara by the people which is three kilometre far from Belim Village.
5) SE CATHEDRAL
Also called St. Catherine’s Cathedral this 16th-century masterpiece took 80 long years to finish and is one of the largest churches in the world. The Cathedral attains to the west of the great square called Terreiro de Sabato and has its face turned to the east.
A flight of steps approaches its beautiful courtyard. It was consecrated in 1640 and was built to honour the triumph of the Portuguese over the Muslim rulers of the city.
